No two runners are the same, and off the shelf training programs are less than best for you. With My Comrades Coach, you’ll have a customized plan that is adapted to your unique life fit.

With constant analysis and feedback I am able to make necessary adjustments. With my experience as a coach and Comrades runner I take the guesswork out of your training. Got a lot of time restraints or injury niggles? Don’t worry I can plan around obstacles so that you can prepare with confidence. 

App delivered training programs and feedback

Your unique training program will be delivered through a customised Final Surge platform app into your pocket. Features include Daily and Weekly Views, a Completed As Planned button that 

automatically enters Distance, Duration, and Pace, plus it’s easy to add How You Felt, your Perceived Effort, and Workout Notes. 

As soon as you complete your training your device uploads to the app and notifications are sent. I am able to analyse your performance and give relevant feedback.

As you progress through your training the performance analysis is able to help direct any necessary changes that need to be made to your plan.

Running gait video analysis

Making sure your running form is right before the many hundreds of km’s/miles of training is essential. I am able to analyse video footage and help you with any necessary corrections by way of drills and specific strength and conditioning programming.

Assessing how you run is very important. Run gait analysis is aimed at identifying technique, foot placement etc. It is able to identify where you have lack of movement such as joint stiffness, muscle tightness and where you lack control such as  joint hypermobility, muscle weakness

Apart from helping prevent common running injuries correct running form can improve your performance by ensuring an efficient running action.

 

Comrades Uphilll specific strength & conditioning

The Comrades Marathon presents some unique challenges for your body. In 2019 the race will be almost 90km and 56km of that will be uphill, and most of the uphill is in the first half after which you have to run more than a marathon. 

As a running coach and experienced fitness professional I am able to help you with your strength & conditioning to prepare for the specifics of Comrades Uphill.

It’s important to prepare yourself for the long haul of Comrades training as well as the race. I take the guesswork out of that and help you stay injury free.

Event & travel guidance

Apart from providing coaching support to help you prepare for the Ultimate Human Race, I provide my runners with help for any information about the Comrades race itself or other matters related to travel.

There are always plenty of questions about race logistics, etc that can help with as well as suggestions for what to see whilst you are in the country.   South Africa is a stunningly beautiful country filled with people with big hearts and a warm welcome. Why not stay after the Comrades and experience some of it for yourself? There are plenty of options in KwaZulu-Natal or elsewhere. Travel in South Africa is relatively cheap and most cities are easy and quick to get to.
